Frequently Asked Questions
What is a mortuary transporter?
A licensed mortuary transporter is responsible for removing the deceased from their place of death and bringing them to the funeral home. A transporter may be employed directly by the funeral home or contracted independently.
How is the decedent removed from the residence?
When a decedent is removed from their place of death, they are placed carefully on a stretcher. Once the family is ready, the decedent is secured and covered with a quilt. They will then be transferred into the van and driven directly to the funeral home.
What happens when you leave with the decedent?
Once the deceased has been removed from the place of death and transferred into the van, they are transported straightaway to the corresponding funeral home. During this time our transporters are in constant contact with the funeral home until the deceased is dropped off and entrusted to the care of the funeral home.
Do you use a hearse when transporting the decedent?
At Astyrian MTS, we utilize modified modern black vans to transfer the deceased. This not only ensures the decedent's safety, but also their dignity by allowing them to be escorted privately. To assure the respect and dignity of the deceased and their families, we will always provide a clean and safe van for transportation.
Are you licensed through the state?
As Astyrian MTS is licensed by the state of North Carolina, our employees are permitted to transfer the deceased.
Do you only transport residents of North Carolina?
Although Astyrian MTS is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, we transport to and from a variety of destinations within and outside the state. Long-distance transfers and airport arrival and departure services are among the services we offer.
